As PARC, Inc. is growing dramatically, its need for financial support is also growing. As a result, the non-profit is beginning its first Annual Appeal on Aug. 1 to meet the needs of its members and their families.

For over 65 years, PARC has given children and adults with developmental disabilities socialization, recreation, and physical activity through a variety of age-appropriate programs. PARC provides summer day camp for children and healthy living activities for adults like cooking, arts and humanities lessons, adaptive yoga, bowling, community volunteerism, and social activities that celebrate significant life events with their peers.

“The work we do with people with developmental disabilities of all ages in our community is truly life-changing,” said Erica Donovan, executive director. “We’ve experienced explosive growth in both membership and facility and supply usage in the last two years, and we need the help of our local businesses and individuals to continue providing vital services.”

PARC currently serves 50 people of all ages with developmental disabilities through specially curated programs that take age and ability into consideration. For instance, to address the challenges of senior women with special needs, the Golden Gang program increases physical and mental health, and has even improved sleep cycles and verbal communication. In fact, several of these women’s medical professionals have said they believe the group has elevated their life expectancy and quality of life.

As a small non-profit, PARC relies on donations from the community to continue the work they do through the 2024 Annual Appeal.
